Introduction
We are thrilled to announce that Ryuji Shirakawa Shihan, a renowned 6th Dan Aikikai Shihan from Sendai, Japan, will make his first visit to the United States for an exclusive Autumn seminar. This historic event will take place at Pasadena Aikikai on September 6th, (Saturday) & 7th, (Sunday) marking a significant moment for Aikido enthusiasts across the country. It is also the first collaborative effort by both Shirakawa and Feliciano Sensei.
About Ryuji Shirakawa Shihan
Ryuji Shirakawa began his Aikido journey at age 15 under the guidance of his father, Katsutoshi Shirakawa Shihan (7th Dan). Known for his dynamic, flowing, and clean Aikido style, he teaches full-time at two prominent dojos in Sendai, Japan, and leads Aikido Shinbu Rensei Juku with over 400 students. Promoted to 6th Dan in 2017 by Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba, he was awarded the prestigious Shihan title, recognizing him as one of the youngest to achieve this honor.
About Ray Feliciano
Ray Feliciano, a 6th-degree Aikido black belt from the USAF and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Roy Dean, began his martial arts journey in August 1988 at age 21, driven by a childhood without financial means or a father figure, guided by Budo’s philosophy. Influenced by mentors Francis Takahashi (7th dan) and Yoshimitsu Yamada (8th dan), he became Pasadena Aikikai’s Chief Instructor in 2005, later training in Shorinji Kempo and Filipino Martial Arts, earning a black belt from Harada Sensei, and opening Maru Dojo in San Francisco in 2013.
His career peaked with a Rokudan award (6th Dan)from Yamada in 2021 and a BJJ black belt from Roy Dean in 2023, reflecting his dedication and depth in diverse martial arts disciplines.
Seminar Details
Dates: September 6th and 7th, 2025
Location: Pasadena Aikikai
Format: The seminar will focus on the flow and harmony of Aikido movements, incorporating unique aspects of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. All martial arts experience levels, including beginners, are welcome.
Schedule: Spanning two days, attendees can participate or observe on either or both days.
